Volt Lithium Scales Up Production with New Field Unit in Permian Basin

August 26, 2024

Volt Lithium has announced the successful installation and function-testing of its first direct lithium extraction (DLE) Field Unit in the Permian Basin, Texas. The new unit significantly enhances the company's production capacity, scaling up to process over 200,000 liters (1,250 barrels) of oilfield brine per day, more than doubling its previous capability of 96,000 liters (600 barrels) per day.

This development marks a crucial step towards Volt’s goal of becoming one of North America's first commercial producers of lithium from oilfield brine. The newly deployed Field Unit, installed in August 2024, represents a 1:83 scale to future full-scale commercial production.

Volt's modular Field Unit allows for further expansion and efficiency improvements, offering the potential to increase processing capacity by adding modules, reducing extraction time, and implementing larger extraction modules. This flexibility positions Volt to move forward with full-scale DLE operations, expected to begin in Q3 2024.
