Abitibi Metals Expands Drill Program at B26 Polymetallic Deposit

April 16, 2024

Abitibi Metals has announced an expansion of its maiden drill program at the B26 Polymetallic Deposit to approximately 13,500 meters, following positive results and the addition of a third drilling rig. The expansion comes after the company secured an option to earn 80% interest over seven years from SOQUEM, a subsidiary of Investissement Quebec.

Recent drilling at B26, located in the Eeyou Istchee Baie-James territory of Quebec, has yielded some of the highest-grade intercepts in the project’s history, prompting the decision to increase drilling efforts. Notably, recent results include 11.4% copper equivalent over 10.6 meters and 6.3% copper equivalent over 10.6 meters at depths beginning around 120 meters.

Jonathon Deluce, CEO of Abitibi Metals, expressed enthusiasm about the ongoing success at B26, noting the project's strategic importance and its potential to contribute significantly to the region's mining output. The company plans to continue aggressive development of the deposit, with further assays expected to be released soon.

The B26 deposit is situated within the prolific Abitibi Greenstone Belt and encompasses 66 claims over 3,328 hectares. It offers potential for significant copper, zinc, gold, and silver production, with historical resources indicating substantial base and precious metal content. The project benefits from excellent infrastructure, including year-round road access and nearby power supply, enhancing its development prospects.

Abitibi Metals is focusing on advancing the historical 2018 resource estimates while exploring the deposit's open-pit potential. The company is also conducting an ongoing drill program at the high-grade Beschefer Gold Project, highlighting its diversified exploration strategy.
