Aurubis, one of the leading copper groups, is facing a significant change in its leadership following a series of unfortunate events, including a theft and fraud case leading to nearly 170 million euros in losses and serious industrial accidents at its Hamburg plant that resulted in three fatalities. In response to these incidents, the company is preparing for a major overhaul of its Executive Board.

Details of the Board Members’ Departure

  • The Supervisory Board of Aurubis is expected to confirm the early departure of three key members of the Executive Board: Chief Financial Officer Rainer Verhoeven, Chief Production Officer Heiko Arnold, and Chief Executive Officer Roland Harings.
  • According to the company's announcement, the full Supervisory Board, scheduled to meet on January 23, 2024, is currently in advanced talks with these Executive Board members regarding the termination of their roles.
  • Roland Harings (CEO) is set to leave the Executive Board on September 30, 2024, Rainer Verhoeven (CFO) on June 30, 2024, and Dr. Heiko Arnold (COO) on February 29, 2024. Until their early departure, they will continue to perform their respective duties.
