EU Copper Imports from Russia Drop 71% Year-on-Year in June 2024

According to data from the EU statistical service, the European Union's imports of refined copper from Russia saw a significant decline in June 2024. The imports totaled approximately 1,986 tons, marking a 1.5% increase from May but a steep 71% decrease compared to the same month last year.

Nearly all of the imported copper was directed to the Netherlands, although this volume also decreased by 35% from the previous month. The average price of the copper imported in June was €9.6 per kilogram.

For the first half of 2024, the EU's imports of refined copper from Russia amounted to 17,807.3 tons, representing a 56% drop compared to the same period in 2023. In monetary terms, the value of these imports fell by 55% in the January-June period year-on-year.
