European Energy Metals to Begin Gold Exploration in Northern Finland

April 23, 2024

European Energy Metals has announced that it will start gold exploration activities in May on its portfolio in Northern Finland. The company holds five mineral reservations covering approximately 300,000 hectares primarily within the Central Lapland Greenstone Belt (CLGB), a region known for its rich deposits of gold and base metals.

The exploration will take place in an area of the CLGB that is less explored but has favorable geological characteristics such as host rocks, faults, domain boundaries, and unconformities that are considered conducive to gold mineralization. This announcement follows the company’s ongoing efforts to explore lithium on the recently granted Nabba and Nabba 2 Exploration Licences.

The region has drawn considerable interest from major mining companies, underscored by recent significant transactions such as Rupert Resources' offer to acquire B2Gold's 70% interest in a nearby joint venture for $102 million, indicating the strategic value and prospectivity of the area.

Jeremy Poirier, CEO of European Energy Metals, expressed enthusiasm about the new exploration initiative, citing the potential to uncover significant mineral deposits, similar to neighboring successful projects. The exploration will be led by VP of Exploration Mike Basha, who brings extensive experience from his previous work in the region with Aurion Resources.

This initiative represents a strategic effort by European Energy Metals to capitalize on the underexplored opportunities within their Northern Finland projects, aiming to discover new gold deposits amidst a surge of regional mining interest.
