Jubilee Metals Begins Operations at Upgraded Roan Copper Concentrator

August 12, 2024

Jubilee Metals Group has commenced operations at its upgraded Roan copper concentrator, marking a significant milestone in its expansion efforts. The London-based metal processing company, with projects in South Africa and Zambia, has increased the processing capacity of the Roan facility by launching a newly constructed front-end section.

The new front-end, built adjacent to the existing milling and flotation circuits, boosts the Roan concentrator's capacity to a maximum of 13,000 tonnes of copper per annum. This upgrade is a critical component of Jubilee's strategic plan, which includes ongoing improvements at the Sable refinery. Together, these projects aim to achieve a combined processing capacity of 25,000 tonnes of copper per year within the next 12 months.

Jubilee's Chief Executive Officer, Leon Coetzer, expressed pride in the progress, stating, "We are proud to announce that the Roan front-end module upgrade project in Zambia has commenced production ramp-up of previously mined material, which has been upgraded at source, prior to producing a saleable copper concentrate at Roan."

Coetzer highlighted the enhanced processing flexibility offered by the upgraded Roan facility and the Sable refinery, emphasizing the unique opportunity to aggressively pursue copper resources unlocked by this capability.
