Piedmont Lithium Reports Q2’24 Operational Results for North American Lithium
Piedmont Lithium, a major North American lithium supplier, announced that its North American Lithium (NAL) operations achieved record production in Q2'24, shipping approximately 14,000 dry metric tons (dmt) of spodumene concentrate. The company targets shipping 96,500 dmt in the second half of 2024, aiming for a full-year total of 126,000 dmt, contingent on shipping logistics and customer requirements.
In Q2'24, NAL produced 49,660 dmt, a 23% increase from Q1'24, and achieved new highs in lithium recovery (68%) and plant utilization (83%). Despite logistical issues delaying some shipments, Piedmont is on track to meet its production and shipment goals, supported by the operational improvements and the new crushed ore dome.
CEO Keith Phillips highlighted NAL's strategic importance and operational excellence, anticipating increased shipments in H2'24. Phillips also welcomed Lucas Dow as the new Managing Director and CEO of Sayona Mining, Piedmont's partner in the NAL venture.
