Production Drilling Commences at Prairie Lithium Project

May 28, 2024

Arizona Lithium has commenced drilling at the Prairie Lithium Project in Saskatchewan, Canada. This marks the beginning of the first commercial lithium production plant in Canada, with drilling operations starting on Pad 1. Production and disposal testing of the wells on Pad 1 will begin in June, and drilling activities will continue across Pad 1, Pad 2, and Pad 3 over the coming months.

The wells are initially being drilled as exploration wells to test the Souris River and Dawson Bay Formations. These wells will then be converted into production and disposal wells for commercial lithium production by 2025. This development significantly reduces the risk associated with the commercialization timeline.

Arizona Lithium is focused on the sustainable development of its two major lithium projects in North America: the Big Sandy Lithium Project and the Prairie Lithium Project. The first two wells on Pad 1 are vertical wells. Well 1 will test the Souris River and Duperow Formations, while Well 2 will test the Dawson Bay Formation and specific disposal targets in the Madison Group. Having production and disposal wells in place is a critical component of the Prairie Project Development, as outlined in the Prairie Lithium Pre-Feasibility Study released on December 28, 2023.
