US Zinc Production Rises Slightly Despite April Decline

US domestic mine production of zinc reached 53,800 metric tons (t) in April 2024, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). For the first four months of 2024, total zinc mine production amounted to 243,000 t, reflecting a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Despite the overall increase, April's average daily production of 1,790 t marked a 21% decrease from March, though it remained consistent with April 2023 levels.
In terms of pricing, the North American premium to the London Metal Exchange (LME) cash price for zinc averaged 18.5 cents per pound in April 2024. This represents a slight increase from the previous month but a significant 46% drop compared to April 2023.
