USGS Reports Increased US Zinc Production in May 2024

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the United States saw an increase in domestic zinc mine production in May 2024. The recoverable zinc production for the month was 68,200 metric tons, bringing the year-to-date total to 312,000 metric tons, which is a 5% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Average daily recoverable mine production in May was 2,200 metric tons, showing a 23% increase from the previous month and a 6% rise compared to May 2023.

The monthly average North American premium to the London Metal Exchange (LME) cash price in May 2024 stood at 18.3 cents per pound. This premium remained essentially unchanged from April 2024 but was 45% lower compared to May 2023.
