New Compound Shows Promise in Breast Cancer Battle

March 1, 2024

A collaborative effort between Russian and Belarusian scientists has led to the development of substances capable of inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, offering new hope to patients battling a dangerous form of breast cancer.

During their research, the team synthesized new drugs based on platinum and palladium. They crafted structures designed to interact with biological targets. These compounds have already been forwarded to the Medical Chemistry Center of Togliatti State University for testing. The experiments utilized typical cancer cells and a model of triple-negative breast cancer.

Additionally, the tests were conducted on healthy human skin and kidney cells. The outcome was a compound that effectively targets cancer cells while being less toxic to kidney and skin cells, marking a significant step forward in the fight against breast cancer.
