Alcoa and Aluminium Bahrain Extend Long-Term Alumina Supply Agreement

October 16, 2024

Alcoa has announced a new agreement to supply up to sixteen and a half million metric tons of smelter-grade alumina to Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) over the next decade. The agreement, which will commence in 2026 and run through 2035, allows Alba to procure alumina primarily sourced from Western Australia, ensuring a consistent and reliable supply for its operations.

This contract extension underscores the strong, longstanding relationship between Alcoa and Alba, making Alcoa the largest third-party supplier of alumina to Alba. By securing this agreement, Alba will benefit from a stable supply of high-quality alumina, further strengthening its production capabilities. The partnership also reinforces Alcoa's position as a leading supplier in the global alumina market, highlighting its role in supporting the growth of key players in the aluminum industry.
