EQVA ASA's subsidiary BKS Industri (BKS) has secured a new contract valued at approximately NOK 53 million (USD 5 million) for Norsk Hydro. The contract involves upgrading 120 furnaces at Norsk Hydro's aluminum plant in Husnes, Sunnhordland, with completion expected in Q3 2025.

This contract represents phase 2 of the furnace upgrade project at Husnes. BKS previously upgraded 80 furnaces in Hall A during phase 1. The upgrades aim to make the furnaces more energy efficient, aligning with high energy prices, stricter regulatory requirements, and societal expectations for environmentally friendly metal production.

Trygve Kjerpeseth, Managing Director of BKS, expressed pride in securing the contract, stating, "With the planned upgrade at Husnes, Norsk Hydro confirms its ambition to be a leading producer of sustainable aluminum. We are grateful and proud of the trust shown to us by being awarded this contract.

"Kjerpeseth also highlighted the longstanding collaboration with Norsk Hydro, emphasizing its significant contribution to the local supplier industry in Husnes. He noted, "It is gratifying to have it confirmed once again that a local company like BKS and our skilled employees are competitive and attractive.

"BKS is part of EQVA's Products, Solutions & Renewables business area. The contract will be recorded as an order intake in Q2 2024.
