U.S. Commerce Finalizes Anti-Dumping Duties on Aluminium Imports from 14 Countries
The U.S. Department of Commerce has finalized its decision in an anti-dumping investigation regarding aluminium extruded profiles and related products imported from 14 countries. These countries include China, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey, the UAE, and Vietnam. The investigation has resulted in anti-dumping duties ranging from 2.02% to 376.85%, while countervailing duties are set between 1.44% and 168.81%.
The rates vary significantly depending on the supplier, with notable differences even within the same country. For example, some Chinese companies will face anti-dumping duties as low as 4.25% and countervailing duties of 15.41%, while other producers from China will see much higher, triple-digit rates.
This investigation was initiated by a group of 14 U.S. aluminium profile manufacturers and the United Steelworkers (USW) union. The investigation also expanded the scope of products under consideration, including items such as solar panel mounting rails and components for electric vehicle batteries.
The final decision regarding these duties will be made by the International Trade Commission in mid-November, which will assess the impact of imports on U.S. manufacturers and determine the level of damage caused.
