New GRIPM Powder Materials Facility in Thailand Begins Operations

Makin Metal Powders, a subsidiary of China’s GRIPM Group based in Rochdale, UK, has announced that its new metal powder production facility in Chonburi Province, Thailand, is now operational. The GRIPM Powder Materials plant, which is ISO 9001 certified, dispatched its first orders in July this year.

The new facility has the capacity to produce 5,000 tons of electrolytic copper powder (ECP) annually. The plant offers a complete range of ECP, including light, medium, and heavy grades. Electrolytic copper powder, sometimes called dendritic copper powder, is produced through an electrolysis process, followed by further processing to achieve the final specifications.

Typical applications of electrolytic copper powder include serving as additives to iron powder for improved properties of sintered parts, particularly in applications requiring high green strength for thin-walled components. It is also used in friction components, welding and brazing, decorative finishes, diamond tooling, and electrical contacts, among other uses.
