GEP Ecotech Supplies Aluminum Recycling System to North America’s Largest Aluminum Company

GEP Ecotech, a provider of metal recycling solutions, has supplied an advanced aluminum recycling production line to the largest aluminum company in North America. The new system is designed to process baled scrap aluminum by breaking it down, shredding it, and removing contaminants to prepare the material for smelting.

The recycling production line includes various shredders that handle different stages of the aluminum recycling process. The pre-shredder reduces large bales of aluminum scrap into smaller pieces, ensuring smoother downstream processing. A double shaft shredder is used for further reducing scrap size and effectively separating aluminum from non-metallic contaminants. Finally, a hammer mill shredder pulverizes the aluminum scrap into uniform particle sizes, which facilitates the removal of fine contaminants and ensures a high level of purity in the final material.

GEP Ecotech states that this production line is intended to reduce energy consumption during the smelting process, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and help companies meet carbon emission targets. By optimizing the size of scrap and minimizing contaminants, the technology is designed to improve both operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Aluminum is one of the most recyclable metals, capable of being reused without losing its properties. Recycling aluminum is more energy-efficient compared to extracting it from ore, saving over 90% of the energy costs. This positions aluminum recycling as an essential part of a circular economy, offering both economic and environmental benefits.

According to GEP Ecotech, the installation of this aluminum recycling system is in progress, and it is expected to be operational in the coming months.
