Hindustan Zinc Sees Growth in Metal Production Despite Drop in Wind Power Output

Hindustan Zinc reported an increase in mined metal production for the July-September period, reaching 256,000 tonnes, a 2% rise compared to the same period last year. The company also announced an 8% increase in saleable metal production, totaling 262,000 tonnes for the quarter.

Refined zinc production grew by 7% year-on-year, amounting to 198,000 tonnes in the quarter, while refined lead production saw a 12% increase to 63,000 tonnes. Silver production was up 2% to 184 tonnes during the same period.

The company highlighted that its mined and refined metal output for the quarter marked an all-time high. However, wind power generation declined, with 129 million units produced, an 18% decrease from the previous year but a 19% rise compared to the previous quarter.

In a broader six-month view, Hindustan Zinc reported mined metal production of 519,000 tonnes for April-September, up 2% year-on-year. Saleable metal production for the same period reached 524,000 tonnes, an increase of 5%. Refined zinc and lead production were up by 4% and 7%, respectively, while silver production fell by 3%, totaling 350 tonnes. Wind power generation over the six months also dropped, with 237 million units produced, a 15% decline from the previous year.
