Enter Engineering and FLSmidth to Boost Copper Production at Almalyk MMC in Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan's Enter Engineering has entered a $215 million cooperation agreement with FLSmidth Inc., a global supplier of mining equipment and services, to develop a new concentrating line at Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex's (Almalyk MMC) MOF-4 plant. The project aims to increase copper processing and production capacity at Almalyk MMC.
The agreement includes the supply of essential processing equipment and design services by FLSmidth over several years. Construction at the MOF-4 plant is already underway, with completion expected to position Almalyk MMC among the world's largest producers of copper, gold, and molybdenum.
Bakhtiyor Fazilov, chairman of Enter Engineering, highlighted the project's significance, stating that the partnership with FLSmidth will enhance Almalyk MMC's ability to supply more copper to the domestic market, contributing to Uzbekistan's economic diversification.
Mikko Keto, CEO of FLSmidth Group, emphasized Uzbekistan's growing mining sector as a key part of the nation's economic development. Keto noted that the cooperation would further strengthen copper production capabilities, underlining the effectiveness of FLSmidth's technology in increasing recovery rates.
The MOF-4 plant expansion aligns with FLSmidth's MissionZero sustainability initiative, which aims for zero emissions in mining by 2030.
